ABOUT THE ROLE

To continue advancing the impact we have across the communities we serve, Commonpoint is hiring a Program Director within Older Adult Services. The Older Adult Services Department provides comprehensive social services, wellness, recreation, nutrition, and community-based programming that supports older adults aged 60+ in remaining engaged, connected, and independent. The Program Director is responsible for the overall leadership, daily operations, program development, staff supervision, community outreach, and contract compliance of the Central Queens Older Adult Center in Forest Hills, Queens. This role reports directly to the Senior Director of Older Adult Services.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Role Responsibilities:

Provide overall leadership and day-to-day oversight of the Older Adult Center, ensuring high- quality programming and services that respond to participant and community needs.
Develop, implement, evaluate, and continuously improve educational, recreational, wellness, social service, nutrition, and special event programming for older adults.
Supervises, supports, and evaluates a team of administrative staff, social workers, interns, instructors, and volunteers, and promotes professional development for all.
Provides weekly clinical and programmatic supervision to social work staff and Masters level interns.
Leads community outreach and engagement efforts to increase awareness, participation, and access to services; cultivate partnerships with community organizations, elected officials, healthcare providers, and referral sources.
Oversees the Social RX Program which is designed to reduce social isolation, increase connection to community and improve health outcomes, and collaborates with internal and external partners on this special project.
Ensures timely completion of required reporting, documentation, data entry, and contract deliverables in accordance with agency and funder requirements.
Tracks participation, program utilization, outcomes, and service data; use dashboards, surveys, needs assessments, and participant feedback to guide program planning and quality improvement.
Oversees scheduling of programming, trips, special events, calendar development, monitoring of supply inventory, and operational needs in collaboration with administrative and facilities staff.
Supports food and nutrition program operations and maintain required health and safety standards; obtain and maintain a Food Protection/Food Handler certification if not already held.
Assists with grant proposals, community partnerships, resource development, and other opportunities that strengthen or expand services.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Performance & Organizational Excellence:

Participates in the agency'ss performance management process by establishing annual goals, completing mid-year and end-of-year evaluations, and engaging in ongoing performance discussions with supervisors and supervisees.
Completes documentation, data entry, and required reports accurately and on time in accordance with agency standards, funder requirements, and established deadlines, including updates to agency systems, dashboards, and tracking tools.
Completes required annual professional development activities to maintain and strengthen clinical knowledge, professional skills, and overall job performance.
Uses program and service data to improve performance by participating in data review and discussion during supervision, department meetings, reporting activities, and other quality improvement efforts, including surveys and feedback activities, as applicable.

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Master of Social Work (MSW) from an accredited program and current New York State LMSW license required.
Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible program management experience in a community-based social service setting, preferably within the field of Aging.
SIFI certified, or SIFI eligible and willing to obtain certification, with the ability to supervise social work interns.
Demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing multidisciplinary teams.
Strong knowledge of older adult services, community resources, case assistance, benefits/entitlements, and referral systems.
Experience with community outreach, partnership development, and participant engagement.
Strong organizational, communication, documentation, and data-management skills; proficiency with Google Workspace and in utilizing client management systems.
Willingness to obtain and maintain a New York City Food Protection/Food Handler certification as required for program operations.
Ability to work occasional evenings or weekends for special programs and events, and to travel between agency or community sites as needed.
Ability to stand for one hour to provide lunch service.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working with older adults and familiarity with NYC Aging funded programs.
Extensive experience and demonstrated success with community outreach and engagement.
SIFI certified.
LCSW licensure.
Bilingual skills are welcomed.

Salary Range: $75,000 - $100,000
