Program: Summer Rising (DYCD Connect). 
Department: Summer Rising. 
Schedule: Must be available between 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM. 

Position Summary:
The Program Assistant supports the daily operations of the Summer Rising program, ensuring a safe, structured, and engaging environment for participants. This role works closely with the Program Director to supervise staff and students, maintain compliance with DYCD and DOH regulations, and support administrative and programmatic functions. 

Key Responsibilities:
Program Operations & Supervision: 
  • Co-supervise program staff alongside the Program Director. 
  • Ensure daily program schedules run smoothly; make adjustments as needed.
  • Oversee program transitions and maintain required staff-to-student ratios (per DOH regulations).
  • Ensure proper supervision of participants during indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Monitor and support program clubs and activities to maintain quality standards.
  • Supervise students during outdoor activities.

Staff & Schedule Management:
  • Maintain consistent and accurate staff schedules.
  • Support staff supervision and provide guidance as needed. 

Attendance & Data Management:
  • Monitor daily student attendance. 
  • Utilize DYCD Connect for attendance tracking, data entry, and updating program work scope. 
  • Monitor program ROP (Rate of Participation) and ensure targets are met.

Family & Community Engagement:
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding attendance, program updates, and student progress. 
  • Develop communication tools such as newsletters for families. 
  • Provide feedback to families regarding student academic, social, and emotional development. 
  • Coordinate with other programs within the building to manage shared space effectively

Administrative Duties:
  • Oversee registration packets, participant intake, and enrollment documentation.
  • Maintain accurate records, including trip slips and enrollment paperwork. 
  • Assess program needs and assist with purchase orders, supply orders, and check requests.
  • Support trip planning and daily scheduling logistics. 
  • Maintain knowledge of Summer Rising operations and DYCD Connect systems.

Additional Responsibilities:
  • Support program needs as they evolve. 
  • Provide coverage or assistance at other Commonpoint Queens locations if needed. 

Qualifications:
  • Experience working in youth programs, camps, or educational settings preferred.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Familiarity with DYCD Connect or similar systems is a plus. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, families, and leadership. 

Work Environment :
  • Combination of indoor and outdoor settings. 
  • Active supervision of youth required throughout the day.
