ABOUT THE ROLE:

To continue advancing the impact we have across the communities we serve, Commonpoint is hiring a FutureReady Coordinator within the Youth Employment Department. The Youth Employment Department serves young people ages 14–24 through programs that combine career exploration, skill development, and meaningful work experiences. Programs include the Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), which provides young people with summer employment and career-readiness experiences, and FutureReady NYC (FRNYC), a reimagined high school experience designed to ensure students:

Gain essential career and workplace skills.
Participate in paid and other meaningful work-based learning experiences.
Earn early college credits.
Obtain industry-recognized credentials in high-demand fields.

The FutureReady Coordinator supports the implementation of work-based learning (WBL) across participating FutureReady NYC schools, with a particular focus on coordinating the Workplace Challenge and supporting schools in delivering high-quality, career-connected experiences. Working closely with school teams, employers, students, Commonpoint staff, and intermediary partners, the Coordinator manages Work Based Learning (WBL) logistics, communication, documentation, data tracking, and follow-up; prepares students and partners for successful engagement; and helps ensure initiatives are accessible, well-organized, and aligned with FutureReady NYC program expectations and Key Implementation Measures (KIMs). This role reports directly to the Assistant Director of Future Ready.

Across the agency, Coordinators are responsible for supporting effective program implementation and day-to-day operations, maintaining strong communication with internal and external partners, ensuring adherence to agency and funder requirements, and translating program goals into consistent practice through collaboration, organization, follow-through, and accountability.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work-Based Learning & Workplace Challenge Coordination:

Coordinate the planning and day-to-day implementation of the Workplace Challenge and other FutureReady NYC work-based learning experiences across assigned schools.
Manage program timelines, schedules, logistics, student participation, employer engagement, and required deliverables from planning through completion.
Work with school teams and Commonpoint staff to ensure activities are well organized, career-connected, and aligned with FutureReady NYC expectations and Key Implementation Measures (KIMs).
Support workshops, employer engagements, workplace visits, student presentations, and other career-connected activities.
Identify implementation challenges and coordinate timely solutions with the Assistant Director and relevant partners.

School, Employer & Student Engagement:

Serve as a primary point of contact for assigned schools and maintain consistent communication with school staff, employers, students, and intermediary partners.
Coordinate planning meetings, orientations, implementation check-ins, and follow-up with participating partners.
Prepare students for successful participation through orientations and career readiness activities focused on workplace expectations, professional communication, teamwork, and presentation skills.
Prepare employer partners to engage effectively with students by communicating program goals, expectations, timelines, and responsibilities.
Monitor student and partner participation and address barriers or concerns that may affect successful program completion.

Data, Documentation & Program Accountability:

Maintain accurate and timely records of student participation, employer engagement, program activities, milestones, and outcomes.
Track progress toward FutureReady NYC KIMs, participation goals, deadlines, and required deliverables.
Collect and maintain required documentation and ensure information is accurately entered into agency and program systems.
Use program data and feedback to identify gaps, follow up on outstanding requirements, and support continuous improvement.
Ensure activities and documentation meet Commonpoint, program, school, and funder requirements.

Program & Team Support:

Maintain organized program calendars, trackers, materials, and resources to support consistent implementation across schools.
Collaborate with Youth Employment staff and other internal teams to coordinate programming and share effective practices.
Participate in team meetings, partner meetings, professional development, and program planning.
Support special events, showcases, and other FutureReady NYC or Youth Employment initiatives as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES:

Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience in youth development, education, workforce development, career readiness, program coordination, or a related field.
2+ years of experience working with high school-aged youth and/or coordinating education, workforce development, work-based learning, or youth employment programs preferred.
Strong organizational and project coordination skills, with the ability to manage multiple schools, partners, timelines, and deliverables.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build productive relationships with students, school staff, employers, and community partners.
Comfortable facilitating student workshops, orientations, meetings, and other group activities.
Detail-oriented and dependable, with strong follow-through and the ability to maintain accurate program records, documentation, and data.
Ability to identify challenges, problem-solve, and communicate issues or support needs in a timely manner.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace; comfortable learning databases and other program management systems.
Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, school- and community-based environment.
Demonstrated commitment to supporting young people and creating accessible, meaningful career-connected learning opportunities.
Flexible and adaptable, including the ability to travel between assigned school and program sites and accommodate occasional schedule changes related to student or employer activities.

This position operates across multiple settings, including Commonpoint offices, participating schools, employer/worksite locations, and community-based sites.
Regular local travel throughout New York City is required to support school-based programming, employer engagements, work-based learning activities, meetings, and special events.
Standard business hours generally apply; however, occasional early morning, evening, or weekend availability may be required for program activities, events, or employer engagements.
This is a 10-month program position. During July and August, employees will transition to support Commonpoint’s Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP), assisting with administrative responsibilities, program operations, and other program needs as assigned. Employees are expected to be flexible in supporting summer programming based on departmental and organizational needs.
Work may involve periods of standing, walking, and moving between classrooms, offices, worksites, and event spaces during program activities.
Employees are expected to follow all Commonpoint, school, worksite, and funder policies and procedures, including applicable safety, confidentiality, and youth-protection requirements.
