Reports To: Swim Team Head Coach 

Position Summary:
The Full-Time Assistant Swim Coach / Aquatics Coordinator serves in a dual leadership role by supporting the Aquaflames Swim Team while coordinating day-to-day aquatics operations across multiple Commonpoint locations. 
This position is responsible for strengthening the connection between all Aquatics programs by creating a seamless pathway from Learn-to-Swim through Fast Trac, Pre-Team, and ultimately the Aquaflames Swim Team. 

The position also serves as the Saturday Swim Lesson Supervisor for both Central Queens and Bayside, ensuring consistent program quality while respecting the unique strengths and successful operating styles of each location. 
Working closely with the Head Swim Coach, this position helps create consistency in customer experience, staff development, communication, and swimmer progression throughout the department. 

Leadership Responsibilities:
Swim Team:
  • Assist the Head Coach with planning and coaching practices. 
  • Coach assigned practice groups. 
  • Attend swim meets. 
  • Assist with swimmer evaluations. 
  • Recruit and retain swim team members. 
  • Promote progression from Pre-Team to Aquaflames. 

Aquatics Operations:
  • Serve as Saturday Swim Class Supervisor for both Central Queens and Bayside. 
  • Support daily aquatics operations across multiple locations. 
  • Assist with instructor training and mentoring. 
  • Ensure instructional quality and customer service standards. 
  • Monitor curriculum implementation. 
  • Assist with scheduling and staffing. 
  • Support new program development. 

Department Integration:
  • Help strengthen the connection between all Aquatics locations by creating a seamless pathway throughout the Aquatics Department, from Learn-to-Swim through Fast Trac, Pre-Team, and the Aquaflames Swim Team. 
  • Working alongside the Head Swim Coach, this position will help connect programming at Forest Hills, Bayside High School, and Queensborough Community College (QCC), ensuring a consistently high-quality participant experience while recognizing and preserving the successful practices unique to each location. 

Leadership Development:
  • Develop systems that improve communication between locations. 
  • Cross-train staff to improve operational flexibility. 
  • Assist in developing future swim instructors and coaches. 
  • Help create operational procedures that allow programs to continue successfully during leadership absences. 
  • Foster collaboration among instructors, coaches, and supervisors. 

Qualifications:
  • USA Swimming coaching experience preferred. 
  • Competitive swimming background preferred. 
  • Previous supervisory experience. 
  • Strong organizational and leadership skills. 
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills. 
  • Ability to manage multiple locations and priorities. 

Salary: $50,000-55,000/year
