ABOUT THE ROLE 
To continue advancing our impact across the communities we serve, Commonpoint is hiring a Manager, Employment Coordination within the Adult Workforce Department. The Manager will provide day-to-day supervision, coaching, and performance oversight for a team of Employment Coordinators who support adult workforce participants with case management, job readiness, employment placement, retention, benefits navigation, and related support services.

This position is primarily based in Elmhurst, Queens, with occasional oversight of special projects and cross-site initiatives at the Bronx, Jamaica, and Central Queens, locations. The Manager will ensure that Employment Coordinators deliver high-quality, participant-centered services while meeting program goals, documentation standards, and funder requirements. The ideal candidate will have experience supervising case management or workforce development teams, strong data and compliance skills, and the ability to support staff in a goal-driven, multi-site environment.
Experience working with public agency-funded programs such as DYCD, HRA, Department for the Aging, or similar government-funded workforce or social service programs is a plus. 

Schedule
This position is primarily based in Elmhurst, Queens, with a typical schedule of 9:00 am–5:00 pm or 10:00 am–6:00 pm. Flexibility is required, as occasional travel to other Commonpoint sites, including the Bronx, NY, may be needed for program oversight, special projects, staff support, meetings, graduations, and participant events.

The Manager should also be available to work occasional evening hours to support client graduations, employer events, workshops, and other program-related activities that they have planned. 

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
People & Talent Development
  • Provide direct supervision, coaching, and performance support to a team of Employment Coordinators primarily based in Elmhurst, Queens, NY.
  • Oversee day-to-day employment coordination services, including participant engagement, case management, job readiness, job placement, retention, and follow-up services.
  • Support Employment Coordinators in managing caseloads, meeting participant needs, and ensuring timely follow-up from enrollment through employment and post-employment retention.
  • Conduct regular individual and team supervision meetings to review caseloads, employment outcomes, service quality, documentation, and staff development needs.
  • Monitor staff performance against monthly, quarterly, and annual program goals, including enrollment, job readiness, placement, retention, credentialing, and documentation targets.
  • Provide guidance and troubleshooting support to staff on participant barriers, employment challenges, benefits concerns, and retention issues.
  • Support onboarding, training, and ongoing professional development of Employment Coordinators and related program staff.
  • Facilitate or coordinate professional development, credential readiness, financial literacy, career advancement, and job readiness workshops as needed.
  • Promote a collaborative, accountable, and participant-centered team culture.
  • Oversee client assessments and coordinate appropriate participant assignments and reassignments among Employment Coordinators to ensure caseload balance, timely service delivery, and alignment with each client’s employment goals, needs, and barriers.

Impact & Data Management 
  • Ensure Employment Coordinators provide comprehensive case management to Adult Workforce program participants from enrollment through job readiness, employment placement, and post-employment retention.
  • Oversee the completion of vocational assessments, employment plans, career counseling, referrals to hard skills training, and supportive service connections.
  • Ensure participants receive high-quality job readiness and employment services, including resume development, interview preparation, job search strategy, professional networking guidance, and direct employer referrals.
  • Support staff in identifying and addressing employment barriers by coordinating referrals to internal and external social services.
  • Ensure ongoing follow-up and retention services are provided after placement, including strategies to promote long-term employment success.
  • Monitor retention milestones, including but not limited to 30-, 60-, 90-, 180-, and 360-day follow-ups, and ensure outcomes are accurately documented.
  • Review participant surveys, client feedback, and service outcomes to support continuous program improvement.
  • Maintain an up-to-date resource repository of community supports, including food pantries, housing assistance, legal services, benefits access, and other client resources to ensure staff can provide timely and accurate referrals.

Program Performance, Data, and Compliance
  • Monitor program deliverables and ensure the team meets monthly and quarterly performance goals.
  • Review staff documentation, case notes, employment verifications, pay stubs, retention follow-ups, supportive service records, and other required documentation for accuracy and completeness.
  • Ensure timely and accurate data entry in required reporting systems, including internal databases, Salesforce, DYCD Connect, and/or other funder-required platforms.
  • Utilize data and performance metrics to track participant progress, identify service gaps, and inform program strategy.
  • Prepare and support program reports, funder updates, audits, outcome documentation, and funding proposal materials as needed.
  • Maintain strong digital proficiency, including Microsoft Office Suite and Google Workspace, to support data tracking, communication, and compliance reporting.
  • Work with leadership to identify barriers to performance and develop action plans to improve outcomes.
  • Ensure program operations align with agency policies, funder requirements, contract scopes, and quality assurance expectations.
  • Ensure program enrollment goals and protocols are met by coordinating client information sessions, strengthening enrollment pathways, and leveraging referrals from other workforce program providers.

People & Communications
  • Collaborate closely with Commonpoint leadership, program staff, Employment Coordinators, employer partners, and community stakeholders.
  • Communicate expectations, goals, policy updates, and program priorities clearly and consistently to staff.
  • Proactively communicate participant achievements, challenges, retention updates, and service needs with appropriate internal stakeholders.
  • Support staff in working with diverse populations, including immigrants, English language learners, young adults, single parents, older adults, individuals receiving public benefits, and other low-income or high-barrier-to-employment populations.
  • Promote equitable, culturally responsive, and strengths-based service delivery across all participant interactions.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training, professional development sessions, and cross-site planning meetings.
  • Assist with conflict resolution, problem-solving, and staff support in a fast-paced, goal-driven environment.

QUALIFICATIONS & KEY ATTRIBUTES: 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Business, Communications, Psychology, Public Administration, or a related field preferred; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in workforce development, case management, employment services, human services, recruiting, or nonprofit program operations.
  • At least 1–2 years of supervisory, team lead, or program coordination experience preferred.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency through familiarity in working with people from a very diverse number of backgrounds.
  • Strong understanding of workforce development, job readiness, employment placement, retention services, and barriers to employment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to conduct meetings, trainings, workshops, and presentations.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities, deadlines, staff needs, and funder requirements.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: 
  • Previous experience in a Commonpoint role is a plus.
  • Experience supervising staff who manage large caseloads and documentation requirements.
  • Bilingual skills are welcome. Preferred languages Spanish, Chinese, Hindi, French, Fulani, Bengali, Arabic, Russian
